She earned a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records along with her husband Dr. Krishna Prasad Chigurupati for being the only married couple to complete marathons in Antarctica as well as the North Pole. The couple also competed in the “World Marathon Challenge” by running seven half marathons on 7 continents in 6 days, 18 hours, and 30 minutes Mrs. Uma Chigurupati is the first female in the world to achieve this milestone. Together, they are the only married couple in the world to compete at this event and this earned them the 2nd Guinness Book of World Records.
