Amita Desai, with a rich international background shaped by her father’s diplomatic career, holds an M.A. and M.Ed. from the University of Hamburg, specializing in Education and American Literature. She has worked with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce and Goethe-Institut in Bombay and, in 2004, moved to Hyderabad, where she established and led the Goethe-Zentrum as Executive Director. Representing the German Research Foundation from 2006 to 2015, Amita played a pivotal role in fostering cultural initiatives like the Hyderabad Western Music Foundation and the DocuCircle of Hyderabad. She is also a festival director of the Hyderabad Literary Festival and, since 2012, has served as the Honorary Representative for the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
